Cervical pillow and Sleep Positions!

Symptoms related to the cervical spine, like neck pain, headaches, muscle stiffness and shoulder pain. Using cervical pillow can have an important affect. Often, people will take bad pillows, causing in poor sleeping quality, uncomfortable positioning and distress in the morning.     
Cervical pillow are intended to support neck and head in a neutral position to lessen stresses and sleeping position and to prevent these problems.

 

Sleeping Positions and cervical pillows:

 

Side sleeping: Side sleeping is most commonly sleeping position.  This position considered the most suitable because it lessen the snoring problem and sleep apnea, it helps release breathe also it is the most supportive position for pregnant women. 

The problem of this position is that most of the body’s pressure depend on arms and shoulders which produce neck pain and frozen shoulder. To get rid of this use side sleeper pillow that lets the correct placement of arms, neck and shoulders. 

 

Back sleeping: Unlike side sleeping, this site may favor episodes of sinusitis and snoring, also back pain. This position needs a soft but strong support for three critic curves of the body: lower back, in the middle of the back and behind the neck.  For this, the cervical pillow with neck support and a position under knees can allow the back sleeper to sleep with comfort and safety.

 

Stomach sleeping: Sleeping on the stomach is the most stressful position for the neck and back. More common in babies and small children than in adults, this sleep position is measured harmful for the neck (neck pain, neck strain and stiffness). Patients may be recommended by the doctors to avoid stomach sleeping if they have some spine conditions or some spine surgery. 

 

If sleeping or resting on the stomach is favored, the pillow should be flat, or the head should rest straight on the mattress, so the neck and head aren’t stressed.
